William Thomas Orosz

We have a name for our first little boy!

William Thomas Orosz

William is Matt's dad and grandfather's first name on his father's side, my great-grandfather's on my dad's side, and the middle name of Matt's grandfather on his mother's side who Matt was named after. We love the name and are very happy to carry on a traditional family name. We plan to call him by his full name, William.

Thomas is for St. Thomas of Villanova -- the saint our alma mater, Villanova University, is named after. Villanova is where we met and where this all began, and so it holds a very special place in our hearts.

We can't wait to finally meet William in 17 short weeks!

Nursery In Progress

And the nursery decorating continues! My GREAT friend George the Painter was by a couple weeks ago to paint the room (much to Matt's dismay, but I think a painter is worth their weight in gold!) and so all we had left for the walls was to get the crown moulding up. So over the past weekend Matt and Colby got to it and had it all done in only two hours. Matt is going for handyman status and so far he's passing with flying colors! I'm still leaving the painting to George though.

So it seems all the basics are in place now... crib, dresser, rug, and book shelf and in the coming months we'll add drapes, artwork, and so on. Matt's next handyman job: baby closet!

All done! And thoroughly impressed

Rug is in too!

20 Week Appointment

Yesterday I had my 20 week ultrasound and everything looked great with Baby O! I am technically 21 weeks and a couple days, but with our trip to Chicago I had to postpone the ultrasound by a week. In this particular ultrasound they measure and take note of everything -- from cranium size to belly size to fingers and toes, etc. -- a tiny baby physical. Our boy is measuring 21 weeks and a few days along, weighs 1 pound, heartbeat was 148 today (130 last time and 170 the time before) and his feet are around 1 inch long! Hard to believe babies usually only weigh 1 pound by the halfway mark and then gain 5-7 pounds in the same amount of time up till D-Day. We were very happy with our results and got a few pictures too!

Kicks

This past Saturday marked 21 weeks and every day leading up since 20 weeks was full of baby kicks. The first time I felt a kick was after hitting 19 weeks, but they were less frequent and I wasn't positive that was what I was feeling. Many people said it would feel like butterflies (nope), goldfish (nope), a drop on a rollercoaster (nope) -- but for me it felt like a very, very light kick. A tiny push inside my stomach. The kicks seem to come mostly after having a meal or when I'm laying in bed before hitting the hay at night. In fact, I can feel Baby O right now as I write (I just had some greek yogurt with granola). Crazy! Matt is eager to feel a kick and will even try to listen to my stomach (maybe he's hoping for a kick to the head?). But my Baby Center alerts tell me he won't be able to feel a kick for a few more weeks. Such an exciting feeling and I find myself looking forward to the little nudges every few hours!

Baby O has also been on the move travel wise. Matt and I were in Chicago over the weekend with some of my family to celebrate my cousin Megan's engagement. Her soon to be mother-in-law threw her a bridal shower in their hometown and it was a great chance to meet Megan's fiance's family before the wedding in November. I was also pretty thrilled with the weekend because of the weather -- some real Fall weather - crisp, cool and no humidity!

The Halftime Show!

20 weeks
Welcome to our Halftime Show!

To the right, here I am 20 weeks along this past weekend and officially at our halfway mark. It is hard to believe only another 20 weeks stand between us and meeting Baby Orosz! The first 20 weeks have been extremely easy and I continue to feel great, so let's hope that carries over into the second half -- the terminology in honor of the football season beginning this past weekend, plus the fact I recently joined my first Fantasy Football League with some of the girls here in Florida! Week 1 didn't go so well for team Hail Victory, but I was happy the Redskins beat the Giants yesterday (too bad I didn't have any Redskins on my line-up).

Back to baby though...

And then with the holidays just around the corner, I can imagine the next 20 weeks will fly by. I am really looking forward to cooler weather, a few jaunts up North (Chicago this weekend), celebrating Thanksgiving in Virginia, baby showers with friends and family, then spending Christmas at home -- our third as a married couple and last without kids!
