It's a GIRL!

Once again - it is known by most people at this point that Baby #2 is a GIRL! We had our gender ultrasound on March 18 and just as it was with William, the ultrasound tech knew the gender immediately. He didn't do the "toilet seat" view, but the "dangle" view - which I had actually heard of a couple weeks prior because I had been Googling 12 week ultrasounds wondering if seeing "nothing" in our 12 week ultrasound meant it was going to be a girl... (yes, me again trying to figure out everything!). All babies have dangles and if the "dangle" is parallel to the body = 100% girl in the gender ultrasound world. If the dangle was more perpendicular it means boy. A little fun fact for you ;)

I was shocked. It really took a week for the news to sink in. I wasn't walking around thinking it was a boy, but maybe subconsciously I was convinced it was a boy because it has been deja vu - every part of this pregnancy is reminiscent of William's pregnancy. I guess I couldn't imagine being told the baby is a girl! Though we all know it's always a 50/50 chance! I told Matt I was so nervous for the baby to be a girl and it feels like having a firstborn again! What do you do with a girl?! Matt reminded me that I was in a fact a girl, so it shouldn't be rocket science :)

We have a lot more preparation to do now for a girl! All those nice hand me downs from William will be on hold. But until we are settled in the new house I haven't had a chance to immediately jump into any fun girl things yet. We are moving out of our first home into an interim space until our new home is finished - so life is a little hectic at the moment (HENCE the poor show in blogging). I have picked up a few outfits here and there, and they sure are sweet!

No names yet. We haven't talked about it at all. I need to feel settled before I can think about it. There are a few names on the table from when we thought of both boy and girl possibilities before finding out William was a boy, but that's it. I will keep you all updated though! As soon as we decide, it will be shared.

Oh! And one big difference in this pregnancy is the fact that I've been feeling movement from the baby forever! I swear since week 14 I have felt "kicks" and moving. Since 16-17 weeks I really feel movement. None that Matt would be able to see or feel, since it is very faint.

We are so excited about our growing family and I know William will be the best big brother. He is so sweet and really loves to be affectionate, so hopefully he can be sympathetic to a little lady in the house :) I'm really looking forward to the 20 week ultrasound coming up shortly. I am 18 weeks and still no belly shot! My belly really popped over the last week, so it is definitely time to share one. Maybe this weekend we can sneak one in while we move boxes left and right...

Big news in our household... William is going to be a big brother! Baby Orosz #2 is due September 3, 2013!

 

It is public knowledge at this point, but we haven't documented it on the blog yet! As a friend with two children says... "second child syndrome..." :) We won't let that happen though! We found out about #2 on December 22. My head hurt and I laid down. I took a three hour nap (NOT the norm, I assure you! Maybe in my pre-baby days...) and woke up with a terrible headache still. Deja vu. William gave the same signs. Sure enough, we had a + sign and were very surprised and happy to see it! We went out to Houston's to celebrate that evening - just as we did when we found out we'd be expecting William. This time it was with a 11 month old in tow!

Just as it was with William - easy, breezy 1st trimester. I've never felt nauseous, been sick, sleepy, repulsed, or any of the usual ailments. I took William's pm naptime to lay down myself for the first few weeks instead of the usual zooming around the house to pick up, fix dinner, and do other miscellaneous tasks. I'm not sure if that is pregnancy related or just I have a toddler that goes non-stop! I'd read or flip through a magazine. I didn't feel sleepy. Another "I'm not sure if this is pregnancy related or just I have a toddler that goes non-stop" symptom is the forgetfulness. I am very much on top of things - typically - but nowadays it's ridiculous. I'd lose my head if it weren't connected. I went to the airport the other day WITHOUT my luggage. I didn't show to a friend's baby shower that I was very much prepared to attend. I left shopping bags at a restaurant. Double booked babysitters. The list goes on... and it's embarrassing. I do blame it more on thinking... where's William, what is William doing, what does William need... than new baby hormones... pretty sure that won't be getting better anytime soon, so I write down everything! I do want to eat more often. I'm not a snacker - same thing happened with William. Bacon, egg and cheese english muffins from Dunkin are my favorite food right now. I have always loved them (and ate quite a few after William was born), but they taste really great right now.

Back to baby... we had our first baby appointment at 8 weeks. My OB/GYN office changed their ultrasound policy to one ultrasound at 8 weeks, another at 12 weeks and a third at 20 weeks (before it was 12 weeks and 20 weeks only), so we were very excited to see the baby so early! The baby had a great heartbeat and everything else checked out perfect. Our doctor said we should feel really good about the pregnancy and once we've seen a solid heartbeat the chances of anything going wrong is slim. We shared the news earlier this time around because we felt pretty confident in what our doctor told us. Last time we waited until 13 weeks, but this time it was 9 weeks when we told family and close friends. We waited until our 12 week appointment to make it "public" knowledge though.

12 weeks

With friends in Florida I waited until I was "spotted" not enjoying a cocktail at a baby shower. It only took a handful of minutes for that to happen and so it spread. Good job, detectives! Then with family we had William sport his "big brother" shirt to his 1st birthday dinner at our house. He walked in wearing the shirt and no one read it. It took probably 10 minutes for anyone to notice. The font isn't exactly small, so Matt and I thought it was pretty hysterical. Matt's dad even had William on his lap and rearranged the shirt without noticing! Lots of fun sharing the news!



STILL no one noticing...

The 12 week appointment went just as well as the 8 week appointment. Heartbeat strong and growing right on track. We tried to spot any boy/girl parts, but at that point nothing was visible. You know me! If I can find something out, I will! No waiting for us and we made an appointment for a gender ultrasound. March 18 we will find out if we're having a boy or girl! The time has flown by (probably because we're so busy with William), but this week is going by slowly! I can't wait till Monday...

First baby #2 purchase - I was in DC and had to get it!

15 weeks along this week. No belly shots - once again, too busy. I'll get one next week. I'm still in my normal pants, but my belly is "popping" a little - definitely more than the first time around. I don't think I saw a teeny bump until 20 weeks with William. I know that is how it goes the second time around though.

All good things and we couldn't be happier! Thankfully our new house is being built... those rooms are getting filled fast and thankfully, there is extra space for visitors/babysitters :) as well!
