Clare is 7 Months!

Clare is 7 months old!
Clare is 7 months old now and I have done a terrible job posting her monthly updates. I have most of them saved in draft, but I'm going to throw this one together quickly and try to not feel bad about not being punctual on her milestones. Here are the latest Clare notes!

  • Crawling, pulling up, taking a step or two side to side when holding herself up on something
  • Stood up unassisted from a sitting position twice! She did that a couple days after turning 7 months! But hasn't tried again since then. She goes into a kneeling, one foot up like a football player and balances herself all the time though.
  • Four teeth and we could tell when they were coming in... She got a very runny nose, congested and woke up at night time.
  • Eating is sporadic... She liked avocados. Made a face at bananas, pears and sweet potatoes. A few days ago I did make her oatmeal and she scarfed it down. She gnaws on whatever I have... pizza crust, bread, cheese, and even nibbled on a lemon without making a face. I'm not understanding her aversion to the bananas or pears or sweet potatoes, but lemon doesn't phase her?? I need to get into a better routine.
  • Naps twice a day. Not much of a third nap once her routine has been down. Usually 9ish and then 1:00pm. Her afternoon nap is the best probably because EVERYONE is required to rest at that hour and I'm religious about it :)
  • Loves watching William and Grace. Laughs and gets very excited when they walk into a room.
  • Loves the water. Splashs in our water table and at the beach was furiously crawling around splashing the water and digging in the sand. She didn't eat sand once!! Talk about a proud moment! Hope she sticks with that strategy... Grace would shovel it into her mouth and probably only stopped in the past few months... Haha!
  • Still a little peanut, but she's in 6-12 month clothing.
  • Goes to bed at 7p and is up around 6:45. 7:15am is her sleeping in. She's the early riser, which is kind of nice because I make her a bottle, make my coffee and we hang out until the other two sleepy heads wake up.
  • Still quiet and very flexible with being out and about. People often comment that she's so quiet. She still likes the baby carrier and that is a big help when I'm out with William and Grace somewhere.

That is all I have for now. I'll get better, Clare! And I promise I'll update the other months with photos from the month! The kids are in school now and I have that extra time :) You're getting so big and developing the most adorable personality. I can see her running with William and Grace in no time. She's a huge fan of them and her parents - she really does light up when she sees any of us. So sweet Clare. We love you!

And I'll leave you with a little Clare photo shoot we did a couple weeks ago :) Still a mini-William with the fair skin and blue eyes!

Grace is 7 Months

Grace is 7 months old now!

And has been - since last month! One small reason for the delay in posting is that Grace is on the go and she is FAST. She has no interest in staying still. She's pulling up on everything. Crawling over everything. Grabbing everything. Bouncing up and down. Holding on by one hand to the couch or ottoman. She is a lady on the move for sure. The picture above definitely sums her up!

Grace started crawling the day before we left on a ski trip sans children. She slowly moved her way forward a couple crawls then flopped to her belly. That weekend the babysitter Kelly sent us video of her moving along slowly. By the time we got back on Monday night she was crawling like a champ. She pulled up in her bed just a few days later. Game over. She loves to be mobile.

Always into something now that she can move

Enjoys the swing at the park

Sitting with her big bro and boy cousins

Grabbing William at the zoo - he's not so happy about that

Enjoying the exersaucer in the backyard

Pool time with William for the first time

So the crawling and pulling up were the big spotlights for 6 months going into 7 months. Plus going into a sitting position from the crawling position. She's taking 2 solid naps a day, plus a 3rd every now and then. She has 4 bottles a day. I try to feed her food twice a day. It usually only happens once though with all the activity happening in our house. She does love a Mum Mum cracker. She's even started to pick up puffs by herself to eat.

Still loves her big brother and is always cracking up when she watches him. Now that she's getting mobile and starting to pull on him, he's irritated with her. Trust me - it isn't fun when she grabs hold of your hair and yanks as hard as possible. She's still sweet as can be and has the happiest smile of all.

Happy 7 months to our little lady!

2 More Teeth

Grace has two more teeth coming in. The top right tooth broke through the  Thursday before last (10th) and her top left tooth broke through a few days later on the 13th. She seemed a little testy when those two were cutting in, but other than that no changes. Here are the two little chompers coming in nicely!

Pulling up

I feel like these milestones are coming fast and furious right now. William learned to sit up a month ago, he started crawling earlier this week and now he's pulling up! A couple days ago he pulled himself up to his feet by grabbing my knees and another time on his little work bench. Then on Friday he pulled up on the ottoman in our family room in front of his Uncle Andrew! He may be skinny, but he's hiding some big muscles somewhere underneath.

With all this new found strength and mobility, William is now throwing his monitor off the side of his crib and trying to pull up on his railing. Down goes the crib to it's lowest setting and up goes the monitor out of arm's reach.

We have a crawler

It's official. We have a crawler! 7 months and 4 days old. I think this boy is going to be a mover. He took a few steps this morning at breakfast club (I think the Crofoot's amazing playroom and all the babies provided all the incentive to get moving!) and then this afternoon is when the multiple steps came about at home. Watch as Matt lures him with a bottle.

7 Months Old

Ok, stop time now! William is 7 months old and what a great age! Every week he's able to do something new, he's got the cutest little personality, loves interacting with other little people and he isn't entirely mobile, so no chasing just yet. What more could you ask for? We are still enjoying our days at home, playing with friends and now we've signed him up for a couple "classes." We went to Gymboree last week (I wanted to burst out laughing at how strange the whole experience is!) and he adored it... he yelled louder than all the other babies and couldn't get enough of the singing teacher. Then we're going to music class this week. Sleeping still the same. Down at 7:30/8p and up sometime between 7-8a. Two naps a day around 10a and 2p-ish. The one change in the sleep department is he doesn't really let us know he's up (aka scream) to get him out of the crib. I'll wake up, click on the monitor and see that he's playing quietly. I guess a bumper and crib slats can be thrilling. Still trying lots of new foods, getting good at the pincer grasp and quite vocal when he's excited.

Playing with baby Hunt at the Glomski's - William kept grabbing Hunt's toes!

Other 7 month interesting tidbits...
  • Holding his bottle when full (whether he holds onto the bottle the entire time is another thing - he gets distracted, drops it and then gets upset).

  • First tooth is making it's way in and I see a couple other undergrounders - the lower left and the upper left look like they will make an appearance soon.
  • Sitting up unsupported. And since this post is a few days late - the day after his 7 month birthday he learned to go from a laying down position to sitting up. So funny to walk into his room and see him sitting there nicely waiting for a pick-up!
I've been sitting here waiting for you!

  • Loves trying out new sounds... popping his lips, screaming loudly, making a "possessed" noise that any scary movie would be proud to enlist, babbling on and on...
  • Pulled himself onto his knees a few times on the couch and onto his work bench - he's a strong little guy. I saw him trying to pull himself up on the ottoman today, but not that strong yet. If I stand him up against his work bench he can hold himself up though.
  • Attempting to crawl - right now he's a little inch worm. He manages to get places without crawling. He bounces a lot, goes into a plank position, sits on his head, but doesn't coordinate his knees and hands together.
Will this move me forward?

  • Says "ma ma ma ma" all the time - not like he understands who "ma ma" is, but it's pretty cute when he's upset and says "ma ma ma ma" like he needs me!
  • Actually getting the eating process. He leans forward, takes a bit bite and chews, then comes back for more. He still makes funny faces when he tries something new. We've introduced him to mummums too. A little stick of puff that he can chew on. A couple days ago he had some puffs on his highchair tray and he picked up every single one and ate them. His pincer grasp is getting there. So adorable to see that little pointer finger and thumb try to work!
mum mum mum

  • Loves his cube with different movable objects, his links, his teething rings and his stacking rings. Still a big fan of the doorway jumper. That thing can keep him pretty entertained for a while.

Another new change is Mr. William gets a bit upset if you leave him alone. He won't even be paying attention to me as he sits on his mat playing with his toys, but if he looks up and I'm not there then he has a fit. He definitely isn't a fan of someone familiar leaving him by himself. I guess Maggie laying there isn't enough!

William also went on his third round trip flight this past month. He did really well, but it was a little harder because he didn't sleep for the majority of the flight like he did in during flight #1 and flight #2. Time to keep him entertained.

In regard to physical changes, his hair is growing in nicely, his eyes are still blue and he gets plenty of comments on how long he is. He's a real cutie! Onward to month 8!
