Meet the Teacher

It's a new year - school year that is! Last week was our Meet the Teacher Day at school and this year Grace gets to join in the fun!

Big brother torture begins

We brought Grace to her classroom first, which might look familiar to her because it was William's classroom from last year. Grace joined me on several classroom trips to visit William last year and so she knows his teacher and teacher's assistant. She played for a few minutes, we picked up her school bag and she gave her teacher a hug on the way out. A very nice visit!

Castle fun with Mrs. Kest

William's visit came next and he is down the hallway from Grace's class. He will go 3 days this year AND be taking Spanish after school on Wednesday each week. When he walked in he met his teacher and her assistant then went with the assistant to see where he will drop his bag, pick out his name tag (which he picked out actually! So begins learning to spell and read!) then create a frame for our family picture. The picture hangs on the wall with all his other classmates' family pictures. Another nice visit and William said he was looking forward to going back next week.

William is a "Shining Star" this year

They played on the playground for a little and we headed home. 1 week until school starts!

Love these two!

End of the 2 Day 2's School Year

Last day of school
2 day 2's actually (photographer typo above)

School ended in May for William and though the first day of school for the 2015-2016 year starts next week, I thought it best to sum up last year for him before we keep moving forward!

William really enjoyed his teachers Mrs. Langholz and Mrs. Kest. He learned so many things, was always singing a new song and brought home lots and lots of fun artwork. He's beginning to draw letters too!

The last day party they had all sorts of snacks and Italian Ice, which of course William gulped down before anyone else. They decorated beach ball cut outs with stickers as their "craft."

Can't believe another year has come and gone! It was so much fun and such a change from the year before as a Young 2's student. I'm sure his 3's class will be just as big of a jump. Next year they take on a lot more big kid activities like chapel and take part in the Christmas program.

William, you had a great year and rave reviews from your teachers! William is a great listener, kind to everyone and a willing participant in all activities. Great job, William!

2 Day 2's Update

William before Daddy is Special Day at school (Feb '15)
Before picture day at school in September

I haven't had an update on school in a long time, so here it is! It's been a very fun year so far. William is learning so much. He's always singing a new song, he knows his colors, shapes, learning the alphabet, counting to the teens, saying "Grace" before meals, and so on. He loves his teachers Mrs. Langholz and Mrs. Kest. He talks about them all the time and always asks what they're up to when he isn't in school. He talks about his friends and says he plays with Davis, Lola, Mason, Trinity and Natalie the most. He's bringing home lots of great artwork. I've been told on a few different occasions that he concentrates very hard on his art and follows direction very well. We had his parent-teacher conference in January and he got rave reviews. He is a great listener, picks up toys, and plays well with everyone.

Fall Festival was in October and what a fun event! It's a blast. There are firetrucks, trains to ride, jump houses, farm animals to pet, cotton candy... the list goes on. We really have a wonderful time. William had a blast last year and this year had even more fun. He's a huge fan of the jump houses and of course, the candy.

Fun with Daddy!

His class had a Halloween Party and a school wide Halloween parade in October. It was HYSTERICAL watching all the kids in the parade. William was Mickey Mouse and when I walked him into school, he was so excited to yell out everyone's costume. "Mommy, look! It's Chase from Paw Patrol!" Then he'd tell everyone, I'm Mickey Mouse!

The Christmas Party was funny because the craft was decorating Christmas cookies. I wondered how that would go... haha! William dove into his cookie and frosting was all over him, and other kids were piling the frosting and sprinkles on like crazy. They are so funny to watch.

William has his Valentine's Party next week.

Today was Daddy is Special Day and Matt had a chance to go into William's classroom to do a craft and pet some really gross animals that Mommy would have ZERO interest in (tarantula, snake and alligator). I hear they made Valentine's too - hopefully one for Mommy :)

Art is Fun Day is coming up this spring and the book fair. Then William will do the Oodles and Doodles summer camp when school is over for two weeks at the end of May. He loved it last year.

William is signed up for 3 day 3's next year. The majority of the weekdays he will be gone in the mornings! It makes me want to cry! Don't be surprised if Mommy is letting him skip school next year every now and then... I like to be with my little buddy, but I am so happy that he loves school so much. What a great experience for him and we love hearing/seeing all the new things he's learning. Keep you all updated on the remainder of the year!

William's First Week

The first day of school was great for William. He was very excited to go and see "Langholz" - his teacher! We worked on the "Mrs." part and now he tells me after school that he played with Mrs. Langholz and Mrs. Kest (his assistant teacher). He also says they nap at school. Two of his classmates were in his class last year, so he plays with Davis and Lola a lot. The other kids are adorable too. I'm the room mom and had the chance to go in and take pictures of them all. I made a little class page of pictures with their names and laminated it. William loves to look at the pictures.

School is going great for William. The first week went very well and he said he had fun every day. He told me the second day of school he read books, sang a song and played with "Light Queen."

His teacher has texted a couple photos and wrote a nice email saying all is well! Fun to get the little update.

William loved phones and cameras? Huh?

New artwork up on the wall

William has had blue day and red day at school, and I can see his identifying colors has gotten so much better. Red, blue, pink, orange, yellow, green are really good! Amazing what a couple days with a teacher can do!

So far so good! I'm looking forward to their first class party - it will be a Halloween party. Fall Festival is coming up, which William loved last year. Then lots of class playdates and other fun events coming up!
