8 Months Old

William is 8 months old!
William is 8 months old today and like always - I can hardly believe it! Only one more sheet of monthly stickers left until he's 1 year old! Newborn days seem like an eternity ago... My friend Sara pointed out the other day that we've come full circle when William was caught trying to crawl onto her baby Jake in his bouncy seat. Just a handful of months ago, Sara's oldest Tyler was trying to crawl onto William in his infant carseat! So much changes each month and it wasn't that long ago that he was just an itty bitty thing that needed all the help in the world. Now... William doesn't stop moving and is much more capable! I looked at some of my iPhone pictures over the past month and notice a trend of just his backside -- I can't catch a good picture of him sitting there nicely. He's got something to see and I can only catch him once he's gone. With pulling up and crawling, we hear many a cry nowadays. Nothing dramatic, but certainly more bumps as he tests the limits of his balance.

I can reach so many interesting things now! Especially the diaper bag!

Into politics?

Other updates... he's eating two meals a day. Oatmeal and fruit in the morning. Then veggies in the evening. Four bottles too. And he loves every second of those. I wonder if he'll ever love food as much as his bottles. He enjoys picking up puffs and has become very good at feeding himself. I've given him the spoon a couple of times and though extremely messy he seems to understand that the spoon goes in his mouth. At this point, he's tried quite a variety of fruits and vegetables. Prunes were the newest and he actually liked them. The other day we went to Houston's for dinner and Matt gave William his peas smushed up. It's nice to be able to go out and give him a few tidbits from the table. No ribs this time. :)

GOOD morning!!
Sleep is still great. Napping at 10ish and 2ish then bedtime is at 7:30p. He's up at 7:30a. His naps have been lasting a little longer than normal (nearing 2 hours) and I think it's a result of his teeth. He's got a fourth tooth peeking in! His upper right.

Check out my two front teeth - they'll be there for Christmas!
William hasn't acted very different with each tooth coming in (and they're coming one by one, which sounds more painful than all at once). Though yesterday I could tell he was NOT happy about this fourth tooth. He took two naps for two hours each and during his waking hours he was not a happy camper. I can't blame him. Those poor little gums!

William's eyes are still blue and he gets lots of compliments on how big his eyes are - all the better to see you! He looks like he's right at 30" long and we haven't tried weighing him recently, so can't provide an update on that... I'd assume 17 or 18 pounds by now? His next wellness visit is at 9 months, so one more month to go. He's still very lean.

Pulling up, sitting up, venturing around the house are all the favorites right now. William's toys don't seem as interesting now that he can... see what the black wire is connected to... or the pantry door is open, what's in there... or let's go turn the volume up on the stereo... lots of much more interesting things that his mama would prefer he avoid.

I wonder when he's going to walk. Sometimes he gets on all fours - tippy toes, not knees and pushes his arms up as if he's trying to stand up. Matt and I look at each other with "uh oh" faces when that happens. A couple times he has pulled up on the ottoman then tries to stand alone, but falls immediately. We met a boy in music class that started walking at 8 1/2 months and this little boy looks so funny walking! He's just too little it seems! I really hope William holds off on that since he crawled sooner than expected.

William loves grinning, loves to be held and loves company. He really is a happy little guy. It's so cute to see him make sense of the world, such as he now realizes in the evenings when the front door opens that "dad's home!" He starts whimpering and crawling toward the front of the house to see him. Amazing how everything starts to connect.

Big bear gets a hug every morning. William loves this guy!

Good job, little man! You're getting so big! Here comes 9 months... we're looking forward to it!

Lemon Love

We were hoping to catch a really funny face on video when we gave William a little taste of lemon... (Yes, I think that rules us out for "Parents of the Year" award) Nope. He loved the lemon and kept asking for more!

Pulling up

I feel like these milestones are coming fast and furious right now. William learned to sit up a month ago, he started crawling earlier this week and now he's pulling up! A couple days ago he pulled himself up to his feet by grabbing my knees and another time on his little work bench. Then on Friday he pulled up on the ottoman in our family room in front of his Uncle Andrew! He may be skinny, but he's hiding some big muscles somewhere underneath.

With all this new found strength and mobility, William is now throwing his monitor off the side of his crib and trying to pull up on his railing. Down goes the crib to it's lowest setting and up goes the monitor out of arm's reach.
