William's Spring School Picture

Spring 2015

Look at this handsome little man! I couldn't believe how big William looked in his spring school picture. We love it!

Look how much he's grown since his school picture taken Fall 2013!

Meet the Easter Bunny!

Today we went to see the Easter Bunny at the mall. We needed some fresh air and some springtime inspiration, since last week we were really under the weather! We lucked out and there wasn't a single person in line. We walked right up and sat with the Easter Bunny. William had no problem walking up and giving him a big high-five. Grace didn't want to sit on his lap, but was perfectly happy to sit next to William with her own Easter egg. Such a sweet picture!

Mr. Independent

This weekend William dressed himself entirely - top to bottom. His socks even match (and I have to admit I do NOT roll up his socks in pairs - gasp!). He went into his room in the nude (he took a shower in our room to get some relief from his double ear infection) and came out ready to go - see below. He didn't have a brush in his room otherwise he probably would have combed his wet hair too.

Mr. Independent

He's been able to dress himself in sections - put on velcro shoes or put on shorts or underwear. Socks and shorts can be tough though. Today it all came together and happened before I even had a chance to help. The rest of the weekend he kept insisting he dress himself.

Mr. Independent is growing up fast.

Monster ABC's

William is working on his ABC's and he gets them right probably every other time. He misses a letter here and there, or will jumble the order, but overall he gets it. It's so cute to see him sing! William also likes to say his ABCs as if he's a monster. Here it is...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day from William and Grace! The day started out pretty happy, but unfortunately as the morning wore on the two of them lost the luck of the Irish... Grace has a runny nose and was pooped by noon, and William's cold went to an incessant cough and fever. Here's to a brighter morning tomorrow!

Grace's 18 Month Wellness

Grace had her 18 month wellness visit the first week of March. I filled out a sort of "progress" report on all the different things she can do and what her personality is like at 18 months. She had one shot, which she forgot about as soon as she found a ball in the room. I didn't have any questions for the doctor because everything has been great, so it was a quick and easy appointment. The doctor did see a little dry blood in her one ear (she had tubes put in her ears in December) and so she got drops for a few days. We'll need to check on those in a few weeks to make sure it cleared up. He didn't want the dry blood to get infected. Other than that, Grace won't have another wellness visit until she is 2 years old.

The stats:

Weight: 26 lbs / 87%
Height: 34.5" / 98%

What shot?

The funny thing is her and William's stats for 15 and 18 months are nearly identical. She actually weighs a smidge more than him and he was a smidge taller than her at this point.

Playground fun after her appointment

That girl is growing fast!

First Dentist Appointment

William had his first dentist appointment and NO cavities! Woohoo! I wasn't even expecting them to let us know William didn't have any cavities because what 3 year old has a cavity at this age?! That would be pretty bad! Thankfully William is a big fan of brushing his teeth and so he wasn't too worried about going to see the dentist. He did great.

First floss
I brought him to a pediatric dentist office and they had lots of kid friendly activities and a kid friendly setup. They don't have typical dentist chairs, but a padded flat service and so William laid down during his teeth cleaning. They flossed, brushed and then took X-rays - the one part William didn't like because I had to stand outside the room for a second and he didn't want me leaving him. The rest was great.

The dentist said to avoid sugary drinks like juice and that he can use fluoride toothpaste now. I don't think he can spit that well yet, so eventually we will move out of the baby toothpaste. The dentist also mentioned he can see slight movement in his top teeth from his night time thumb sucking. William only sucks his thumb when he's tired and even that is very limited. He falls asleep so quickly. I try to mention no sucking when I see him doing it, but I'm not too worried.

Toothbrush from the dentist
For a great visit William got a dentist's worst nightmare gift - a donut! William had been asking for a heart shaped donut for a couple weeks and so I obliged. We headed home and he got to break into a gift from his buddy Cole in VA as well - a car kit that he could paint! He was very into this activity as you can see below.

Back to the dentist in 6 months! I didn't realize we went every 6 months this young, but I guess that is the way it goes. Good job, William!
