William had his first dentist appointment and NO cavities! Woohoo! I wasn't even expecting them to let us know William didn't have any cavities because what 3 year old has a cavity at this age?! That would be pretty bad! Thankfully William is a big fan of brushing his teeth and so he wasn't too worried about going to see the dentist. He did great.

I brought him to a pediatric dentist office and they had lots of kid friendly activities and a kid friendly setup. They don't have typical dentist chairs, but a padded flat service and so William laid down during his teeth cleaning. They flossed, brushed and then took X-rays - the one part William didn't like because I had to stand outside the room for a second and he didn't want me leaving him. The rest was great.

The dentist said to avoid sugary drinks like juice and that he can use fluoride toothpaste now. I don't think he can spit that well yet, so eventually we will move out of the baby toothpaste. The dentist also mentioned he can see slight movement in his top teeth from his night time thumb sucking. William only sucks his thumb when he's tired and even that is very limited. He falls asleep so quickly. I try to mention no sucking when I see him doing it, but I'm not too worried.

For a great visit William got a dentist's worst nightmare gift - a donut! William had been asking for a heart shaped donut for a couple weeks and so I obliged. We headed home and he got to break into a gift from his buddy Cole in VA as well - a car kit that he could paint! He was very into this activity as you can see below.

Back to the dentist in 6 months! I didn't realize we went every 6 months this young, but I guess that is the way it goes. Good job, William!
