First Solids

William had his first bite of food yesterday! We started him with rice cereal. I'm not sure if he actually swallowed any of it, but it was a lot of fun to try. His face said it all... ew...

He took a couple more "bites" and the show was over. I haven't heard anyone say their baby LOVED cereal, so maybe we will have better luck with vegetables. A good first try though!

William's Baptism

William received the Sacrament of Baptism this past Sunday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, FL. Msgr. Patrick Caverly and Very Rev. Stephen Parkes baptized William and his godparents are my cousin, Marie, and Matt's brothers, Steve and Andrew. William is lucky enough to have three godparents! It was a beautiful occasion and a wonderful day for William. He was the perfect angel!

Father's Day

A little late! But I wanted to share a few pictures from Matt's first Father's Day.

William gave Daddy a new t-shirt, a couple Cookie Cousins cookies and a framed letter from his Grandpa Orosz (William's Great Grandpa). Grandpa Orosz sent us the letter a few months ago and wrote how William is the biggest blessing and how fortunate we are to have him. Great Grandpa Orosz passed away recently and the letter was very special to us.
The boys with Grandpa Orosz
Matt also enjoyed a 4 hour nap and then we headed over to his parents' house for a fun Father's Day BBQ. A nice and relaxing day for the best Daddy! Thank you for all that you do!

5 Months Old

William is now 5 months old! He has become so animated this month and acts like such a little boy... squirming, wiggling, always moving his feet and rolling around... Maybe even showing off a little bit. I think he knows he's cute!
I found the monthly sticker! Let's rip it off!
No more pictures. I'm out of here!

William immediately smiles at familiar faces. When he meets someone new he likes to stare for a couple minutes before showing off his gummy grin. He also has the funniest giggle.

He's rolling back to front and vice versa all the time and likes to lay on his tummy while playing with his toys.

He's still a great sleeper at night going to bed between 7:45-8p then waking up sometime between 7:30-9a (there's been a few 9:30a wakeups!!) and the daytime naps are starting to develop just like his pediatrician mentioned at his last visit. The daytime nap (in his crib, thank goodness -- since you may have read he wasn't having it with naps in his crib during the day last month) happens a couple hours after waking up. He sleeps for around 1.5 hours. The afternoon nap is a little more unpredictable... sometimes 2:30p, sometimes 3:30p and a little cat nap appears every now and then at around 5:30p. The routine is really developing!

Meals are still 5 times a day and we'll start solids soon. Keep you posted on that new adventure!

Several newborn items were packed up and stowed away over the month. His bassinet, his stroller bassinet, the swing... that time passed very quickly.
Some other William likes, dislikes, interesting to note items from this month...
  • Loves his Hungry Caterpillar book with all the different colors, a mirror, and best of all crinkles as you touch it. He also likes the oball - a great suggestion from our friend in Rhode Island!
  • Starts the night out sleeping on his side, but by the time he wakes up he's on his tummy. Sometimes his knees are pulled up and his rear is sticking up in the air.
  • Grabbing for anything we're holding.
  • Really splashing in the tub at night.
  • Very distracted when he's eating. He hears a noise and he wants to know where it's coming from. Sees someone walk by he wants to see who it was. When he has a bottle he lets go for a minute then tries to grab the bottle once he's figured out what's going on around him. He's still not strong enough to hold a bottle by himself.
  • Pacifier has become a thing of the past. I do see him sucking his thumb at night on the monitor every now and then.
  • Using his new walker and I can't believe his little legs can move him along. He acts like he's on a mission to get somewhere specific!

William as a 5 month old has been really fun! I sound like a broken record, but I can't believe the development that takes place in such a short amount of time. Next on the horizon... waiting for him to sit up on his own (support is necessary right now) and solids!

Baby got ups!

We hooked up the doorway jumper this past week and William is starting to get the hang of it. The first time he just swayed back and forth. A couple attempts later he's starting to bop up and down. So funny since his head still bobbles a bit.

Check out the video of William showing off his jumping skills. I like how he keeps his arms in the leg holes.

Do we have a basketball player in our future? Sure would make Daddy happy!

You're blocking the doorway, William...
