Happy 3 Month Birthday!

Happy 3 month birthday, little man!

Yesterday William turned 3 months old. So long newborn phase! I can't believe how far he's (we've) come and it seems like 100 years ago since those new to the world days. William is turning out to be a strong little (long) guy and his personality is really shining through. He reminds me of Matt a lot actually.

My last day of maternity leave was last week, but I told my manager a few weeks ago that I wouldn't be returning to work. A little bittersweet. I really enjoyed working at Rollins as a fundraiser and if I could clone myself so I could work AND take care of William, I would! Staying home with William will be great though and I'll love watching him grow.

Updates for Month 3:
  • His eyes are still blue and I'm thinking they may stay blue. The consensus of brown eyed babies seems to be they have dark gray eyes that eventually keep getting darker. At this point they're still very much blue.
  • Outgrowing his 0-3 month outfits and he's gone on to 3-6 month outfits. The little guy is so long and lean that the mid sections are roomy, but the sleeves look like quarter length! How embarrassing. Boys don't wear quarter length sleeves!
  • Sleeping 11 hours at night! His bedtime is now at 8:15pm and he's waking up around 7:15am. Talk about a game changer! He naps during the day at random times in his swing or in his Boppy. If I try to put him in his crib during the day he just won't have it. Hmmm... we'll keep working on that.
  • Starting to buckle him in his bouncy chair and swing because on the rare ;) occasion that he throws a fit, I'm sure he's about to launch himself out of the seat. He's a strong little guy!
  • Holding his head up. I don't have to worry as much about supporting his head when holding him, but it doesn't last too long. He's practicing a couple minutes of sitting in his Bumbo seat too.
  • Completely entertained by his mobiles and loves looking in mirrors and the television
  • Noticing Maggie and I caught him smiling at her when she peeked at him in his swing the other day
  • 1/2 rolling - I think he could definitely roll if he wanted to and I imagine it will be any day now. The 1/2 roll he does beginning from his back.
  • Talking up a storm. He will lay on his activity mat and chat away with the farm animals.
  • Still occasionally using his pacifier. Really does the trick when he's getting fussy and I know he's tired. Pop that puppy in and two seconds later he spits it out then easily falls asleep.
Turning to watch the tv!

One day soon I'll be ready for the big boy stroller!
Pitching a bit of a fit, so I'm hanging my legs over the edge... time to lock me in!

Chit chatting William. Excuse his burp...

Then he had several firsts this month:

First...
  • flight to DC - he was a champ
  • birthday party - Tyler Glomski's 1st birthday
  • pool day with friends at the Morgan's house
  • lakeside dinner with his mama and papa (we love Houston's and celebrated the news that we were expecting at Houston's back in May!)

Speaking of time flying by and big changes... amazing what changes in 1 year! This weekend last year I was back home in D.C. for work and had a night out on the town -- dirty martinis and all -- with two of my favorite girlfriends from high school, Lauren and Erica. Fast forward one year... William is 3 months old and Lauren and Erica are expecting their first babies this fall! Hooray for Virginia babies! The three of us can once again enjoy our dirty martinis while the babies play over the holidays :)

Moving on to month 4 with William. We're starting it off with mommy and baby yoga today!

Hands, Head and Feet

The past week I've noticed William trying to put his fist in his mouth. It doesn't seem to be the same "rooting" motion and he will do it after eating, so I know he's not hungry.

Just finding my hands!

We've also been working on William holding his head up. He can hold his head for a few moments in a sitting position, but then plop! Head support is much more fun and easier!

This is a headrest right?

I put him in his Bumbo seat the other day - not just ready yet, but it was pretty cute to see him smile so big while sitting in it!

Then William's been workin' on his fitness! He looks like he's doing some reverse crunches on his activity mat. He pulls his legs all the way up then kicks the hanging mobiles.

First Easter in Virginia

We celebrated Easter in Virginia and it was William's first Easter Sunday - in addition to his first trip to Virginia! It was the most beautiful Easter weekend in Virginia I can remember with crystal clear blue skies, low 60s, and not an ounce of humidity in the air. It felt so crisp and all the spring flowers were in bloom. Sadly, we missed the cherry blossoms downtown and I had really been looking forward to seeing them with William. The peek bloom was moved up several weeks because of the abnormally warm weather the Mid-Atlantic has had this past winter. By the time we got to DC the blooms were all gone. Next year!

While we were in DC/Virginia, William saw the White House, the Washington Monument and the Capitol from afar. We had lunch at the Willard and walked around the city a bit. The rest of the weekend we spent in Virginia just relaxing and spending some quality time with friends and family. We took a walk with William around Burke Lake, one of my favorite trails in the area and he went on strolls with his Great Aunt Celine. His Grandma Tisone bought him a cuddly lamb blanket for Easter and his Grandpa Tisone walked Burke Lake with him too. He met the Collins and Baby Collins (gender to be disclosed in September!) and celebrated my cousin Alec's 18th birthday. A wonderful weekend in William's Mama's old stomping grounds! I can't wait until he's older and he can really enjoy all that the Washington area has to offer!

First Wings

William earned his wings this past weekend on his first flight to Washington, DC! Sadly, he wasn't given a pair of wings like I remember on my first flight! What has the industry come to... he was subjected to long security lines and his bottles were even tested. Actually, it wasn't a bad experience at all! We checked our luggage as soon as we got to the airport and walked to the gate only with his stroller and carseat attached, so we didn't have to juggle a ton of items. He slept through security (I was jealous) and slept through a majority of the flight laying on my lap. The last 30 minutes of the flight he was up, but very smiley and happy. Not a single peep out of this flyer! We timed his feedings with take off and landing, so his little ears didn't feel the pressure. On the flight home it was the same scenario. He slept through security, slept through a majority of the flight, and was up the last 30 minutes a happy boy. With two people it was a breeze, but it might be a little much to travel with a 10 week old and all his gear alone. Good job, William!

Security is a snooze...

Meet the Easter Bunny

William met the Easter bunny for the first time this past weekend. Baldwin Park had an Easter Egg Hunt for all the kiddies and we stopped by to scout out the event for next year when William will be mobile enough to grab some eggs!

William also got his first Easter basket! A little early since we will be in Virginia for Easter. No candy for this baby, but he got a few goodies for the beach (towel, sunhat, tote), bath time (train bath toys, rubber ducky) and bedtime (book and bunny).

Our little swimmer

William had his first swim this past weekend! He is so quiet during bathtime that we figured he may like the pool. His pediatrician said a private pool was perfectly fine for swimming, but to avoid public pools until he's 6 months old. They also said sunscreen is okay even though most sunscreens say to avoid it until 6 months. We didn't put any sunscreen on him though. He was only in the water for a few minutes and wore his brand new sun hat (that the Easter bunny brought him) to shade him from the hot Florida sun. We'll start infant swim classes at some point, but this was a nice test to see how he liked the pool and the water. It went well and just like bathtime he was very quiet and relaxed.

Sporting his Cape Cod lobster t-shirt and lobster swim trunks - how cute!

Look at those little legs!
