I don't have too much to report lately other than swim because swim has been the main focus the past 5.5 weeks! We only have a few more days left and William will graduate from his 6 weeks/5 days a week/10 minutes a day infant swim safety class. He is very good at floating in class. The instructor even asked us to be in a news segment on the class (assuming it comes to fruition next week) because William came to mind immediately as a calm and relaxed floater. So we shall see if William gets his first TV debut! Ha!
Here is the video from week 4 (1.5 weeks ago) of William's first float solo.

Mother's Day
It was a very sweet Mother's Day for me! We woke up early and headed to New Smyrna Beach for the day. William is in love with the water, so we had a good time splashing and running on the beach chasing birds that were fishing. Matt ran after William solo for a while, so I could lay out and read my book - nice and relaxing :) We had Mon Delice for lunch - love those subs! - and then we headed home to make it in time for dinner at Matt's parents' place. We had a de-lish grilled out dinner with everyone and wrapped it up with some ice cream pie made by Matt. A wonderful day with my boys (girl in tow)!

Swim Update
It's been 2.5 weeks of daily swim classes for William and I'm amazed at what he's already picked up. He is doing really well! He is very calm throughout the lesson and already wants to flip to his back to float (without ever being taught). He is doing a good job of keeping his head back in the water when the instructor has him float on his back, knows to hold his breathe and keep his eyes open underwater. The one thing we need to work on are his kicks. He's so mellow that he will sometimes not kick to the ledge, but instead soars like a string ray to the edge of the pool. Haha! I think he's taking advantage of his length knowing he's tall and will reach the side soon enough :)
I got in the pool with him for the first time yesterday to see how it's all done and I was really surprised at how eager he is to push off to "swim" to the ledge or another person. Each time he swam to me he spotted my hand underwater and knew to grab it, which looking from the pool deck is hard to see that he's actually doing that with the instructor too.
It is quite the time commitment, but I really am enjoying it. I thought it would be tough to keep up, but not the case. It may help that William has been so happy with the process so far. He is still sitting at the edge clapping for the kid ahead of him practicing. He will cling to me or get shy right as it is his turn to start, but today he actually reached out to Jennifer to begin class! Good job, William!
