Chillin' in my crib! |
We moved William to his crib earlier in the week after his 1 month birthday and I am telling you - I love the crib! I sleep so much better without the noisiest sleeper on the block beside my head in his bassinet. William grunts and moves and shakes so much throughout his sleep and I'm sure there have been several times I interpreted that as waking up and picked him up. With him in his crib I miss those noises and only hear when he's truly unhappy. His monitor has a great function that shows the "decibel" of cry he's making -- when it hits the red we know it's time to pay Mr. William a visit!
Besides me sleeping better, I think William is sleeping better too. The past week he has only been up once (except one evening he woke up twice). Last night he slept 7 hours straight! Matt brought him on his first long car ride earlier in the evening (an hour out to one of Royal Oak Homes communities and the hour back), so I am wondering if that really took it out of him. He's not a huge fan of his car seat (really grunting to get out of his restraints) and Matt said he slept half of the time and grunted the other half. But if we got 7 straight hours out of it we may have to make Matt's drive a regular occurrence :) Also, I am trying to start a good routine for going to bed -- bathtime, feed then rest. I'm looking forward to adding a book in there, but he gets drowsy very quickly after his bath and I want to make sure he eats before hitting the hay. He really loves bathtime and immediately gets quiet as soon as he hits the warm water. His favorite part having his head shampooed!
Sleep during the day for William is still interesting. Some days he sleeps just fine and others he will be awake all day long amazingly. Occasionally I can get him in his crib, but for the most part he really prefers it if Mommy is immobilized for several hours while he naps -- he loves to sleep in my lap. I will think he's in a deep sleep and try to move him to his swing or the crib and he immediately wakes up. Hoping that changes soon, so I can try to get something done around the house! In the meantime, thank goodness for DVR and all the shows I have taped to watch.
