2 Month Wellness Visit

Little man looks a little stunned after his shots
William had his 2 month wellness visit this morning and received his first round of shots. Poor baby! He did very well though. A quick outburst of pain, but as soon as he was handed over to us he got quiet. Before we even reached the car he was passed out. They did warn us we may be up all night with him being fussy though!

We also got his 2 month stats:

Weight: 12 pounds - 56th%
Height: 25 inches - 97th%

Our lean, mean, fighting machine continues to grow!

Next wellness visit is in 2 months.

2 Months Old

Happy 2 Month Birthday, William!

William got a little sleepy in the middle of our photo shoot!

On Sunday, March 25, William turned 2 months old! The night before was my first night away from the little man, while Matt watched him. I went to New Smyrna Beach for a friend's bachelorette party and had a great time with good friends. It was fun to come home on Sunday morning to see William on his 2 month birthday and hear that the two boys did so well without mama! So much has changed in such a short amount of time and it is amazing to watch his daily progress. I read yesterday that by 4 months that William will actually know his name!

William is doing really well at night and on Friday night and Sunday night this past weekend he slept 9 hours straight. Saturday night he woke up once for Matt at his usual 4 a.m. mark. He's going to bed at 9:30 p.m. now (I've tried moving it up slowly from his 10/10:30 p.m. nighttime that we had been doing). The hope is to get him to 7:30 p.m., but I know that will take some time. Right now I am liking that we don't have many middle of the night wake up calls, since we have a later bedtime. The plan is to keep up with slowly moving bedtime earlier as he consistently sleeps longer at night.

William is really beginning to take notice of different objects further away from him. He's been watching the mobile in his crib for the past couple weeks, but this week was the first time we've put him on his activity mat and he looked at the farm animals hanging around him. He's also making eye contact and seems to recognize me and Matt. When I got back from the beach on Sunday and gave William a big hello he smiled the biggest smile immediately and got really excited. Too cute!

Other 2 month updates...
  • William is still eating every 2-3 hours, which means around 6 meals a day. He is much more efficient at eating now. Last month it would take 45 minutes and now the average time is around 15 minutes. I'm loving that!
  • We catch him "watching" the television occasionally. I think the bright lights catch his attention.
  • He's trying to put his whole fist in his mouth -- probably looking for a thumb to suck on.
  • Still not attached to the pacificer, but if he's getting a bit fussy in the evenings it is helpful in soothing him. He calms down then spits it out.
  • The swing is much more helpful nowadays. During the day if I'm hoping to relax for a bit, I know I can put him in there after he eats and he'll usually pass out for a little (he's sleeping right now in the swing!). The first month he really has no interest in swinging.
  • Luckily, he likes the sound of the shower and blowdryer -- helpful in getting ready in the morning. He will sit in his bouncy chair in our bathroom and just quietly sit there taking in all the noises.

William's 2 month appointment is tomorrow, so we can't wait to see how much bigger he is since his last appointment. I think he's due for some shots too, so that should be interesting! Keep you posted on all those stats!

Looking forward to all month 3 has to bring for us and William!

7 Weeks Old

7 weeks old!

William is 7 weeks old today! Each day he's becoming more and more alert. He's smiling a lot and "chatting" up a storm. Check out the video below for a little sample. We're working on our tummy time -- though most of the time he seems to prefer trying to flip himself over using his legs instead of working on a push-up with his hands. Another first was his first taste of formula. We gave him his first bottle mixed with 1/2 formula on Sunday and luckily, he didn't seem to have any problems with it. Nice to know that mama can get out every so often without worrying about supplying the milk in the meantime!

Tummy time

Last night William slept his longest period yet -- 8 1/2 hours! He went down at 10:30 p.m. and woke up at 7 a.m. He has been doing around 5-6 hours -- falling asleep around 10:00 p.m.-ish and waking up around 4 a.m.-ish. It will be interesting to see if that continues!

Chillin' in my crib

Chillin' in my crib!
We moved William to his crib earlier in the week after his 1 month birthday and I am telling you - I love the crib! I sleep so much better without the noisiest sleeper on the block beside my head in his bassinet. William grunts and moves and shakes so much throughout his sleep and I'm sure there have been several times I interpreted that as waking up and picked him up. With him in his crib I miss those noises and only hear when he's truly unhappy. His monitor has a great function that shows the "decibel" of cry he's making -- when it hits the red we know it's time to pay Mr. William a visit!

Besides me sleeping better, I think William is sleeping better too. The past week he has only been up once (except one evening he woke up twice). Last night he slept 7 hours straight! Matt brought him on his first long car ride earlier in the evening (an hour out to one of Royal Oak Homes communities and the hour back), so I am wondering if that really took it out of him. He's not a huge fan of his car seat (really grunting to get out of his restraints) and Matt said he slept half of the time and grunted the other half. But if we got 7 straight hours out of it we may have to make Matt's drive a regular occurrence :) Also, I am trying to start a good routine for going to bed -- bathtime, feed then rest. I'm looking forward to adding a book in there, but he gets drowsy very quickly after his bath and I want to make sure he eats before hitting the hay. He really loves bathtime and immediately gets quiet as soon as he hits the warm water. His favorite part having his head shampooed!

Sleep during the day for William is still interesting. Some days he sleeps just fine and others he will be awake all day long amazingly. Occasionally I can get him in his crib, but for the most part he really prefers it if Mommy is immobilized for several hours while he naps -- he loves to sleep in my lap. I will think he's in a deep sleep and try to move him to his swing or the crib and he immediately wakes up. Hoping that changes soon, so I can try to get something done around the house! In the meantime, thank goodness for DVR and all the shows I have taped to watch.

Resting on your legs... my favorite daytime spot
