Meeting Baby Orosz

Our first ultrasound was at 11 weeks
We saw Baby Orosz for the first time on July 14, 2011 - amazing! It is so incredible how much detail and how much growth has taken place in such a short amount of time. The nurse could even count the number of fingers on our baby's hand (no worries, there are 5). We saw two legs, two arms, fingers, spine, facial features -- all of which are a work in progress from here on forward -- according to Baby Center alerts that I receive on my iPhone. It was a really special experience and overwhelming at the same time. We probably could of sat there all day watching the screen of Baby Orosz. The funniest part being when the nurse needed the baby to shift position so she could take the baby's measurements. The nurse started to poke and prod my stomach and Matt looked at me funny - I wasn't sure what was wrong - and he asks the nurse, does that bother the baby? As in, he was worried it was hurting the baby. Matt cracks me up, but he is going to be the best dad.

Matt and I are going to Winter Park OB/GYN, which I love because I use to work at Winter Park Memorial Hospital for the Florida Hospital Foundation. So through my work I was able to meet a couple of the doctors and know the hospital setting well. They recently made an addition to the Baby Place at WPMH, so it will be interesting to go from fundraising for the Baby Place to utilizing the Baby Place!

Our next appointment to see the doctor is in mid-August, but we also made a second appointment in mid-August for the baby... to find out if Baby Orosz is a BOY or a GIRL! I will be 16 weeks at that point and my friends shared the name of a clinic nearby that will do a gender determination ultrasound. So, August 12th is the date we find out whether we will be having Baby Orosz Girl or Baby Orosz Boy. Following August 12th it will be nursery planning and name crafting mania! Stay tuned...

Sharing the News

Matt and I the day we found out we
were expecting. We celebrated at
Houston's that evening.
We found out we were expecting on Sunday afternoon after Andrew and Sonni's wedding weekend - so talk about about an eventful weekend! Matt and I kept the news between us for quite some time, but once we were ready to share the news of Baby Orosz with family it was quite the logistical planning feat. We are in Florida, my parents live in Virginia, and Matt's parents are spending most of the summer in North Carolina. There wasn't a way to share the news of Baby Orosz with everyone in person at one time, so we decided to fly to Virginia one day to tell my family and then fly back to Orlando, FL to tell Matt's family (Matt's parents had just made a quick trip back to Orlando a few days earlier).

Once we arrived in Virginia, we met my parents for dinner at my favorite restaurant, Artie's -- Artie's never lets me down and surprised me with a "Congratulations" treat. Doreen (my mom) knew what was up within seconds of arriving at dinner and Tony (my dad) was wondering what this meant in terms of future law school plans (that ship sailed a LONG time ago! He is genuinely excited to be Grandpa Tisone though). The next day we had breakfast at my aunt and uncle's, which worked out even better than planned because we got to see my cousin Marie who made a pitstop in Fairfax before heading on to Charlottesville for a wedding (she lives in NYC currently). Even though they all originally thought Maggie was pregnant (I have never laughed harder in my entire life) - they eventually caught on that the only one having a baby would be me.

Only me -- but it was also pretty amazing that the weekend coincided with opening night for the last Harry Potter movie, so Matt and I met up with our good friends Erica and Jared to see the movie and enjoy some Pinkberry following. All and all -- a GREAT time in Virginia!

Then it was back to Orlando for a family dinner at our house. We all hadn't been together in quite some time, so Matt told his brothers, their wives and his parents that we would be celebrating the July birthdays, belated Father's Day, and Matt's return from his 10 day hiking adventure. Shortly after they all arrived we had Bill (Matt's dad) open a gift. The gift was a frame with the picture of Miss Maggie below (we had also given the picture to my parents). They got it immediately (they did not think Maggie was pregnant) and we all enjoyed the rest of the evening together. So the final word is that Maggie will be the "Big Sister" -- NOT a mom! The weekend of travel and surprising the family was a LOT of fun!

A Big Year!

2011 has been a BIG year for the Orosz Family! 7 months have passed and we have celebrated two marriages -- Steve and Helen got married in February and then Andrew and Sonni got married in May, the Orosz family's brand new home building venture is up and running full steam ahead -- Royal Oak Homes (visit http://www.royaloakhomesfl.com/ for more information OR to buy a home), we celebrated our 2 year anniversary also in May, and then the most recent big event of the year is that Matt and I are expecting our first baby! We will meet Baby Orosz on or around January 28, 2012. Looks as if 2012 will be another BIG year for us!

Matt and I are so thrilled and are really enjoying the experience so far. I have been lucky in that I have had limited to no pregnancy symptoms. Just feeling like my normal self! I'll keep my fingers crossed that we continue down that path.

As for sharing our experience through this blog - I am hoping you'll continue to check-in on us and Baby Orosz -- maybe even find it helpful. I have found my friends' blogs extremely useful -- nevermind enjoyable -- and I have no doubt I'll continue to read up on how my friends' pregnancies and babies are progressing, so we can learn (hopefully) ahead of time what we should expect throughout this incredible journey!

Enjoy!
